Our History: Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation-Candelaria, Inc.

Born Out of Civic Need (1990–1992)

The story of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation-Candelaria, Inc. (MSEUF-CI) is rooted in community action and a commitment to accessible education. In the early 1990s, the voluntary closure of the municipality's only existing high school left local youth facing severe educational disruption. Recognizing the urgency, civic leaders, parents, and community members across Candelaria organized formal written petitions urging the Board of Trustees of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in Lucena City to establish a dedicated affiliate campus in their town.

In response to the community's call, university leadership formed an operational task force headed by Dr. Jaime M. Buzar (Vice President for Academic Affairs) and Dr. Benilda N. Villenas to secure campus grounds, build modern academic facilities, and fulfill regulatory requirements. On March 10, 1992, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation-Candelaria, Inc. was formally incorporated as a private, non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian educational institution.

Early Operational Milestones (1992–1995)

The Candelaria campus officially opened its doors on June 15, 1992, equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and science laboratories to welcome its pioneer class of secondary students.

• December 18, 1992: The Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) Region IV granted full Government Recognition for the High School program.

• 1995: DECS and the Commission on Higher Education released full official permits allowing tertiary/collegiate degree programs to begin operations on the campus.

Growth, Facilities, and Comprehensive Academics

Situated on a secure 12,270-square-meter campus in Barangay Malabanban Norte—just one kilometer from the town center—MSEUF-CI has steadily expanded its physical plant and academic footprint. Over the decades, dedicated infrastructure has risen to serve every stage of student development:

• Basic Education Division: Providing continuous learning paths through the Elementary Department (Kindergarten to Grade 6) and the High School Department (Junior High School and Senior High School academic strands).

• Collegiate Division: Offering undergraduate degree programs across diverse fields, including Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Business and Accountancy, Teacher Education, Computer Studies, Computer Engineering, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Psychology.

Cultural Preservation and Excellence

Beyond classroom instruction, MSEUF-CI has distinguished itself as a cultural anchor in western Quezon. The campus is home to The Enverga Rondalla, a celebrated string ensemble recognized regionally with the Gawad Tanglaw ng Kabataan for preserving traditional Filipino music. The institution itself has been honored with the Gawad Tanglaw ng Edukasyon.

Today, guided by its institutional motto Pro Deo Et Patria ("For God and Country") and driven by its Vision 2045, MSEUF-CI continues to engage in international benchmarking, research, and community extension—upholding a legacy of academic excellence and service for future generations.
